At the beginning of this semester i created and brainstormed idea’s surrounding the topic and medium for my Digital Artefact. After a lot of brainstorming and deliberation i came to the conclusion to create the Lenellerose Redbubble page whereby i could sell my art and photography through the creation of tangible products. I also decided to advertise my Redbubble account through the use of other platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
The Redbubble page received a lot of feedback and interest from my audience which instantly assisted me in ideating and improving upon my existing content. These feedback loops and ideation resulted in improving the diversity of content posted and mediums of content creation e.g. photography, photograms, scanning imagery, art etc. This allowed me to reach a wider range of audience and attract new people to the page.
I believe that by diversifying my portfolio on the page this will allow me to gain a larger audience, make sales, and gather more aesthetic appeal. Although i have not yet been able to make a sale, through continual daily posting and creating diverse content i should be able to profit. I will also be continuing to advertise my products through online platforms. I have also considered creating an Instagram page which promotes the products i have created for future ideation.
Clarke, T (2018) examines how creating and curating content allows you to effectively grow an audience and improve on user engagement. I used this resource in order to inspire me to continue posting regular content and curate my content into categories which make it easier for viewers to access and navigate therefore resulting in an increased inclination to make a purchase.
Overall, i believe that the progress of the digital artefact has been positive, and i am happy with the direction it is going. Further improvements to the project may include a wider variety of categories, more advertising techniques and perhaps engaging more with my audience to research preferences and what makes a good sale.
